Nous abordons un nouveau cycle: Ceci n’est pas une photographie autour de la question de la matérialité de l’image et plus précisément du médium photographique. Les pratiques des artistes invités réinterrogent le double statut de la photographie : à la fois objet et médium (intermédiaire / moyen/ support). Les productions qui en résultent se situent souvent aux croisements de différents médiums manifestant leurs porosités grandissantes et l’éclatement de leurs frontières. Ces pratiques hybrides émergeant dans le champ de la photographie débordent de fait vers le champ plus large de l’art contemporain. Jusqu’à étendre l’image à d’autres champs, à tous les champs.
Le premier volet Image/objet pour l’année 2016 se déclinera autours de pratiques qui spatialisent l’image, perturbant les catégories. L’image se fait sculpture, sort du cadre, prend forme, s’augmente, devient volume, se déploie au delà de sa planéité.
L’exposition collective Matérialité(s) photographique rassemble différents points de vue et pratiques qui explorent les possibles du médium photographique en questionnant son double statut à la fois image et objet : Image / Objet.
Travailler l’image comme un matériau en soi : la sculpter, l’inciser, l’occulter, la déplier, la déployer dans tous les sens, la remettre en question, la déconstruire... A l’instar de la citation de Victor Hugo « la forme c’est le fond qui remonte à la surface », les artistes invités (et les œuvres convoquées) poussent « la forme » photographique dans ses retranchements, au delà de certaines limites. S’attaquer à la matière pour révéler quelque chose de l’ordre de l’immatériel, tentatives d’y faire émerger un nouveau sens. La mise en valeur n’est pas de prime abord le sujet photographié mais plutôt le support. Cependant se tisse un lien étroit entre les deux, au point où sujet et matière se mêlent et s’abîment.

Vol de nuits gallery inaugurates a new cycle : « Ceci n’est pas une photographie » (this is not photography) on the matter of pictures materiality, more precisely on the photographic medium. The practices of the guest artists reconsider the dual status of the photography : both object and medium ( intermediary / way / support).
The resulting productions are often situated at the crossroads of different mediums and arised their increasing porosities and the breaking down of their own borders. These cross over practices which are emerging in the field of the photography, are indeed overflowing towards the broader field of the contemporary art . having extended the image to other area, all areas.
The first part « Image/objet » (Image /object) for the year 2016 will be developed around practices which spatialize the image disturbing the categories. The image is turning into sculpture, falling outside of the framework, shaping up, extending, getting volume, spreading out its flatness.
The « Matérialité(s) photographique » (photographic materiality ) group show is gathering differents point of view and gestures which explore the possibilities of the photographic medium by questioning its dual status : both image and ojet : « Image/objet » (Image /object). Working with images as a material itself : sculpting it, incising it, occulting it, unfolding it, spreading out in all directions in every sense, continuing to questioning it, deconstructing it....Like Victor Hugo’s quote « la forme c’est le fond qui remonte à la surface » ( form is the substance which rises to the surface), the artists (and the convened art works) push the photographic « form » beyond certain limits. To Tackle material for revealing something along the lines of immateriality, as attempts to raise a new sense. The enhanced is not at first sight the photographed subject but rather the medium. However, it forged a close link between the both, to the point where subject and matter mixing and abyssing.
